Muhal Richard Abrams

First among the equals who helped create Chicago's ground breaking Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) in the 1960s was pianist Muhal Richard Abrams. Based in New York for many years, he is as interested in the compositional possibilities in jazz and New music as leading large groups and playing himself. Abrams died in November 2017.
