Michael Snow

One of the first free pianists of the 1960s, Chicago-born Burton Greene was also one of the first to set up residence in Europe -- Amsterdam to be exact -- at the end of that decade. Since that time he's refined his playing, worked with a clutch of Continental improvisers and even leads a Klezmer band on the side. Shown here with Michael Snow at Toronto's Music Gallery. Greene died in August 2021.
